The hype is not always the key to success, when you have a good comic in your hand you should try to utilise it better than anything else.
Based on James O’Barr’s comic book series and Alex Proyas’ gorgeous 1994 film, “The Crow” didn’t really serve well to the audience.
Directed by Rupert Sanders ,”The Crow” didn’t really meet the audience’s expectations, a supernatural being who murdered the protagonist’s girlfriend comes back alive to take revenge.
First of all, this supernatural element is a saturated market in Hollywood. There are many more series like that if we want to watch supernatural villain saga, or per say supernatural hero saga.
So when you are about to serve something with the same elements in it, you have to do it well.
The first half of the movie tried to set the romance between Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs, which practically felt like they were chilling with each other.
The 1994 film served as a new genre of dark superhero saga, but this film doesn’t even entertain people.
It got 4.7 out of 10 in IMDb and it’s just 20% fresh in Rotten Tomatoes, people are saying, “From the horrible acting to the bad CGI, this film should go back to the drawing board with execution. – Clearly Entertainment”.
Other person said , “The only thing this movie had going for it was the action and they constantly interrupted it with nonsensical storytelling by someone that has no idea how the world works in any way with a director that’s clearly only there to pull his pecker to making visual shots that he thinks might look epic.”
But amidst the dark reviews there is some hope of light because few people also reviewed it as , “If it was its own thing it wouldn’t be a bad movie. But it’s just not ‘the crow’. It shouldn’t have that title. It’s certainly not a remake, it’s really quite different. It’s not a martial arts movie for a start. It’s a very 2024, safe, largely dull love story that eventually has some interesting moments. But you have to wait a looooong time for them”.
