The Bengali film industry is now in a pitiful condition and we have not got a decent success at the box office for many days. But with some new big titles releasing this Puja, there are chances that the conditions improve a bit and the Bengali box office gets a considerable revenue from the upcoming films.
There are three films releasing soon. One is Dev and Srijit Mukherjee’s much-awaited collaboration ‘Tekka’ and in this we will get to see Dev as an antagonist in an adult film, and fans are excited for it. Another title is Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay’s ‘Bohurupi’ and it has already appealed to rural audiences with its plotline and songs and it will probably be a big hit in single screens.
And one more thing to consider here is there are no major Hindi releases at this time that can disrupt the business of these films. Ala Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’ does not have much of a buzz in West Bengal and it might not work there like in other states. So the local films are getting an edge in the market for the Puja releases.
Mithun Chaakroborty’s upcoming movie ‘Shashtri’ too has caused much hype and it will be no less than Tekka and Bohurupi, but it might not find an audience in the urban areas. The city halls will still be filled with fans when Bohurupi and Tekka will be released and hopefully the long drought of Bengali box office will now be eradicated.
