Will The Royals Meet the Ruins on Netflix?

Netflix is bringing a new show called The Royals, and on paper, it has everything going for it. Big stars like Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter, royal drama, romance, and grand palaces. But for some reason, the buzz around the show is missing. It’s strange because this is not a small project. There’s a whole team of popular actors, lavish sets, and a big platform like Netflix behind it. Still, it feels like no one is talking about it.

If we look back just a year, Heeramandi was everywhere. The show was promoted like a festival. You saw it on billboards, in fashion shows, and all over social media. People were dressing like the characters and sharing clips left and right. It created a moment. With The Royals, it’s the exact opposite.

The trailer came and went without much noise. Even the stars are not being seen much in interviews or events.

This makes you wonder if Netflix does not have much faith in the show. Are they holding back on purpose? It could also be that they’re being cautious this time. Heeramandi pulled huge viewership numbers, but the reviews were mixed. Some loved the visuals and performances, others felt it was style over substance. Maybe Netflix is playing it safe now, but it will not go all out until they see how The Royals is received.

The show drops on May 9. Maybe it will surprise us all. But right now, it feels like a royal story that’s arriving without a proper welcome.
