The Sabarmati Report is the latest film running on the big screens. The movie is based on the infamous Godhra burning of a train and the whole aftermath.
You see, the film is super interesting. It attempts to uncover the truth after so many years and there was most certainly propaganda by the administration, media and whatnot.
Making a film on one of the most important yet least talked about controversies of our country is a daring task indeed. Vikrant Massey is a more than phenomenal actor and seeing him essay the role with such grace is definitely something worth appreciating.
But, the movie is not doing something worth appreciating at the box office. Why?
Perhaps the makers were not as effective as they should have been during the promotions. One more highly likeable reason could be the prominence of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again on the big screens. Both of them are still making good progress and perhaps people are more interested in those commercial flicks.
But now, the film has a greater chance of success.
Why?
It has been shouted out by the Prime Minister. The PM was serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat at that time and this event followed by the riots remains one of the most pivotal things of his career.
So him praising the film can be a great factor but let’s wait to see.
