WandaVision, released on 15th of January, this year easily became one of the highest watched series upon its release, creating a massive record. Marvel really scored a goal with its series as we all can see now and starting it with WandaVision was really a great idea. WandaVision gave the audience a much needed closure about what happened to both Wanda and Vision. With a very interesting story and major arc introduction for Wanda in Wandavision, the show really did a phenomenal job.
With such an exciting plot and something that attained the attention of millions, one might be thinking, can this story have a second season? Interestingly, this is not something that only we are thinking, this seems to be on everyone’s mind and in a recent Q&A session Marvel’s head Kevin Feige got the exact question about what’s the probable future of WandaVision and whether there will be another season.
To this Kevin Feige had his perfect answer prepared as he replied saying, “Yes to an evolution of storyline; probably and inevitably in many different capacities.” It is known to everyone that Wanda’s next appearance will be in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and this will supposedly see Scarlett Witch’s next big arc. Kevin Feige further added that, “That’s the first place where that story will continue but there will be other places”.
So, Doctor Strange won’t just be the end of her character, which for sure is true. After ending such major characters like Iron Man, Steve Rogers’ Captain America, Black Widow in the main timeline, it would make no sense if they were for Scarlet Witch too. But, given the nature of what WandaVision portrayed, it is kind of difficult to pick it up, given Vision’s reality. If they had to make a different season, it would probably be mostly Wanda and the title wouldn’t make much sense.
But, if MCU takes inspiration from Marvel Comics, there’s a lot more to play with. As Scarlet Witch and Vision both have great storylines in the comics. One such is where both Wanda and Vision fight a town filled with magical creatures, Wanda meeting Mephisto, and also a major story plot can come from where Wanda once again created a reality in “Marvel Universe: House of M ”.
There’s lots of possibilities, when one gets into the comics and Marvel being Marvel, they surely have some serious plans for such interesting characters of theirs. They are definitely letting the vibe of Wanda and Vision die down just here and most specifically Scarlet Witch. For now, we can only wait to see what Doctor Strange 2 will bring for the fans of Wanda as that is the next big pit stop for the character.
