Will Today’s Woke Culture Accept Delhi Belly Now?

Directed by Abhinay Deo, a 2011 movie “Delhi Belly”, completed 13 years this year.

The movie revolves around three friends and how they find the meaning of life among the oddities of day to day things.

Delhi Belly also had the level of profanity which was never seen in the Hindi films before.

The movie didn’t hesitate to show its darker side, it was filled with violent vulgarity, toilet humour, and sexual jokes, which might offend today’s Woke culture.

It was a big deal back then that Amir Khan who was known to make family friendly movies took a huge risk and produced that kind of a dark comedy film.

Delhi Belly wasn’t the first movie to use profanity, before that many films like Omkara did that.

But Delhi Belly had that “It Factor” which made it a cult classic.

But the question is with today’s woke culture, will films like this be relevant till this date?

Because now with a range of gender, and rallies of opinions, movies had to censor a lot to get a theatrical release.

Where we have this liberty in OTTs can we say that cinemas will allow movies like Delhi Belly now?

If we take for example the movie “Animal” had violent scenes and vulgar language, and that only that was its selling point not the plot or anything else. But Delhi Belly had a plot to follow.

Now that the attention span of people are of a Tik Tok and everything seems so offensive it is very hard to decide whether a new movie like Delhi Belly still be relevant till this date or not.
