Fresh out of his National Award Win for Best Actor for Soorarai Pottru, Tamil superstar Suriya‘s birthday was celebrated with a training glimpse of the actor from Vetrimaaran‘s upcoming film ‘Vadivaasal’. The actor is seej training for the film by taming a raging bull. This is arguably the most anticipated collaboration to come out from Tamil Cinema this decade. Vadivaasal could not only shoot Suriya’s already shining-in-glory critical acclaim higher, but could also redeem Suriya’s box-office appeal for the good.
The actor after a string of box-office duds and critically under-appreciated performances during a phase that lasted over a decade, shot to instant magnanimous critical acclaim for his performance in Soorarai Pottru. The acclaim only amped up for Jai Bhim. Both the films although widely watched and appreciated were direct digital releases. However, the actor still fiddled at the box-office in his latest theatrical release ‘Etharkum Thunindhavan’ (2022) after a gap of three years. Nevertheless, Suriya’s sensational cameo in Vikram (2022) has placed him as the main antagonist in Lokesh Kangaraj’s upcoming cinematic universe.
Besides Vikram 3 and Vadivaasal, the upcoming line-up of the actor comprises of Bala’s ‘Vanangaan’, Siva directorial and rumoured TJ Gnanavel, Sudha Kongara and R Ravikumar directorials. Of all these films, the reigning beast however is unarguably Vetrimaaran’s Vadivaasal. Everyone knows and acknowledges the magic Vetrimaaran has weaved with Dhanush in their multiple collaborations critically and commercially. Quite expectedly the audience shouldn’t expect anything less from Suriya-Vetrimaaran collaboration either.
Vadivaasal is an official adaptation of the Tamil novel that goes by the same name. Vadivaasal, written by CS Chellapa, is a story about a bull and the one who tames and captures it, set against the backdrop of Jallikattu, the ancient sport practiced in Tamil Nadu in which a bull has to be captured. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, who bankrolled Vetrimaaran’s last film Asuran as well.
The Tamil cinema Industry, well-wishers and fans are waiting with baited breaths to see Suriya firing all cylinders in this 2023 release.
