As the second half of October inches closer for OTT audiences, there are many exciting Indian movie titles gearing up for their streaming dates. The list includes ‘Sardar Udham’, ‘Hum Do Hamare Do’, ‘Sanak’, and ‘Rashmi Rocket’, amongst other films. So, we thought of doing a comparative analysis for some of the most anticipated Indian movies, that are expected to release on OTT platforms during the remaining half of the month of October.
But how do we precisely quantify the anticipation around a film just before its release? One way is to observe the total number of views for the film’s official trailer recently released on YouTube. Another parameter can also be the number of likes (or dislikes) for the film’s trailer.
But since we can consider just one, we have taken into account the total number of trailer views (at the time of writing the article) for films, to compile a list of the top five most anticipated Indian OTT movies slated to release during October second half.
These film trailers were released at different points in time, and we have used total trailer views to ascertain the film’s current buzz. And in case there were two trailers of the same film, we have considered the first/original one uploaded by one platform, for all titles, for the sake of simplicity. So, that might have affected the actual anticipation factor around the film’s release. For this article, we have considered titles releasing on and after 15th October 2021 until 31st October 2021 because many hot titles were slated for the Dussehra release.

So, as you can observe from the above data, and unsurprisingly, Shoojit Sircar’s eagerly anticipated film ‘Sardar Udham’ starring Vicky Kaushal in the titular role of the Indian revolutionary has topped the list as per trailer views and that too by a significant margin. Although Vidyut Jammwal’s ‘Sanak’ has given a tough fight but is still behind ‘Sardar Udham’ by roughly 50 lakh views.
On the other hand, platform-wise, Amazon Prime Video leads in this parameter as the most anticipated title ‘Sardar Udham’ will stream on this OTT platform.
Having said that, it is also to be observed that the official trailer for ‘Hum Do Hamare Do’ starring Rajkumar Rao and Kriti Sanon has been released just yesterday and its ranking on this list might improve in few days. Yet, its chances of outranking ‘Sardar Udham’ seem improbable at the moment but it has the potential to surpass ‘Rashmi Rocket’ after the latter’s release.
