Zee5 has been one of the top most successful OTT platforms in this lockdown. Though one could easily point out that most of their shows and movies have been revolving around one genre specifically and that is drama.
While most of their successful ventures are genre specific and it wouldn’t be a harm to say that it is only ‘Drama’ genre that has garnered Zee5 acclaim so far in this year.
With releases like Virgin Bhanupriya, Ghoomketu and Cocktail, Zee5 tried their luck with the comedy genre but, all of their films or shows other than drama have failed badly.
To redeem themselves Zee5 are coming up with a brand new original film titled Comedy Couple, which is going to be a romantic comedy. The movie has been directed by Nachiket Samant and stars Saqib Salim and Shweta Basu Prasad in the lead. Comedy Couple is produced by Yoodlee Films, the film production arm of Saregama India.
The story follows both of their characters Deep and Zoya who are a couple and work together as professional stand up comedians popularly known as comedy couples. They regularly make jokes about relationships and how to handle them and continuously take digs on each other to make it more entertaining. With being successful together, some problems arises in their relationship due to a habit of Deep of lying.
Still the movie seems to be filled with humour and might have a decent amount of emotional value to it too.
While Zee5 have nailed it completely in the emotional quotient they still need to work on their comedy and romance genre. Comedy Couple seems to be a perfect opportunity for them to take a break from their regular tried and tested crime dramas and entertain the audience with a much lighter feel.
Comedy Couple portrays the millennial love between a couple who work together professionally and how a small mistake in their professional life can create a strain in their smooth sailing relationship.
