In a role reversal of sorts, the Star Plus channel is going to air shows from its web subsidiary Hotstar. Yes, soon Star Plus is bringing the favourite web content to the TV.
The reason for the situation is the lack of new content. Television relies heavily on serials which are shot in bulk from time to time. Due to the coronavirus, the latest set of episodes have not been shot. With the shooting not likely to take place anytime, it is leaving a massive hole in the programming schedule of these television networks.
To make up for the lack of fresh content, the TV network is trying to fill with the web series. However, given the ‘lack of censor’ with the OTT content, there needs to be a lot of editing done to present it to a family audience. It shouldn’t be a big deal, though as a team is ready to do the deeds. We see that with foreign content that requires censoring.
We have to see if other channels also follow the same as sooner, rather than later, they are bound to run out of the latest work. Usually, the televised episodes were put for streaming, but now things are happening in reverse due to the pandemic situation.
