In our previous article, we reported that Amazon Prime Video isn’t delaying the release of the much awaited season 2 of the hit web-series The Family Man. The web-series will be released on the decided date of 12th February, 2021. Earlier there were claims that the web-series has been delayed due to the various ongoing controversies related with Amazon Prime Video and two of its web series Mirzapur and the recently released Tandav.
As soon as 2021 began, the first question fans had in their mind was when they would be getting the chance to see Srikant and his adventures in The Family Man. This only happens, when a story gets so dearly attached to someone, that we are hooked to it. Thankfully, this was a show Manoj Bajpayee did and the fans had full faith in him that we won’t be disappointed no matter what.
In a recent interview with Subhash K. Jha, how the web has given him the kind of credit that even theatres weren’t able to give him. As he debuted with The Family Man in the realm of web-series, his fans knew it would be one hell of an adventure and we were damn right about it. We have seen Manoj Bajpayee’s movies and we know he goes for the story more than anything else and this was the case with his debut in web series too.
His statements prove one thing right that the web only cares about the content and that content is king is indeed a true fact. We cannot just put up anything and call it a web-series just for the sake of making it, the content is something that one goes for while they are watching a web-series. This is the reason why the world of web-series is highly dominated by actors who had earlier been pushed aside as they didn’t do any heavy budget movies like the other Bollywood biggies.
In the past year, we have seen how different actors who earlier had small roles in the big screen created a whole fandom for themselves in the world of web-series and this is only because the content that was put out there didn’t look for just “superstars”. The makers wanted the content to be more of a superstar, and the actor should be able to carry that with it.
In the interview, Manoj Bajpayee, also mentions his interest to work with the director duo Raj and D.K. whose earlier work, “Go Goa Gone”, impressed him a lot. He felt working with them on the story of “The Family Man” will indeed be a great opportunity.
As we come closer to the date of 12th February we certainly are hoping that Prime Video doesn’t pull out at the last minute and it drops the show, just like it has already promised.
