Oscar award-winning actress, producer and director Angelina Jolie and leading producer and distributor, Fremantle have entered a multi-year filmmaking agreement. This agreement commences immediately with feature film ‘Without Blood’ their first project.
The statement adds that ‘Under the three-year agreement, which commences immediately, Jolie and Fremantle will jointly develop a sophisticated, powerful, and internationally focused slate of feature films, documentaries, and original series in which she will produce, direct, and/or star – based on each individual project.’
Angelina Jolie fans will be glad to know that she would be producing as well as directing her first project, ‘Without Blood’ , under this deal . It is an adaptation of a novel by Alessandro Baricco. It is a short story, published in 2002, about war, revenge, memory, and healing. The plot involves 4-year old Nina who is left for dead in the family house after her father and brother are brutally murdered. The movie begins shooting in May and is set in Italy. No details on the cast or release date are revealed yet.
Jolie returns behind the camera for the first time since her last directorial venture – First They Killed My Father – released in 2017. On-screen, she was recently seen in Marvel Studios’ Eternals which released last year. A few months ago, it was reported that Angelina Jolie, along with Christopher Waltz, is in talks to star in another adaptation of a novel – Every Note Played.
Fremantle, on the other hand, has delivered 81 scripted shows across the world in 2021. It is known for shows such as America’s Got Talent and American Idol globally and in the US particularly. Fremantle India is known for shows such as Indian Idol, India’s Got Talent and Savdhaan India.
Interestingly, the deal also extends into local language content, possibly in the 26 countries where Fremantle operates. This includes supporting regional writers and directors. Given this commitment to regional content and Fremantle’s presence in India, fans are hoping to hear news of some development on Angelina Jolie’s involvement in a project in India. However, at this point we would need to wait as there are no announcements in this regard.
