After the pandemic induced delay, Sony Pictures’ action-comedy film ‘The Man from Toronto’ starring ‘Zombieland’ actor Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart is reportedly set for a theatrical release on January 14, 2022.
The film is being directed by Patrick Hughes, who had earlier helmed the 2017 film ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. While the sequel to the action-comedy film is slated to release later this year in the month of June.
Prior to that, Hughes had directed the multi-starrer actioner ‘The Expendables 3’, which featured a dream cast of Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren and Jet Li. Hughes’ forthcoming project is the sequel to the action-comedy flick ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’.
His next venture ‘The Man from Toronto’ follows a case of mistaken identity between a deadly assassin (reputedly played by Woody Harrelson) and a New York man (reputedly played by Kevin Hart), while they happen to be at the same Airbnb rental.
At an earlier stage, it was once reported that Woody Harrelson’s role was to be played by ‘The Mechanic’ actor Jason Statham, however, that did not work out. Harrelson would next be seen in Tom Hardy’s sequel to the 2018 action-horror film ‘Venom’, which is slated for a September 2021 release.
Harrelson initially came to the limelight in the comedy show ‘Cheers’. Moreover, he was also praised for his roles in films such as ‘The People vs Larry Flynt’ (1996), ‘The Messenger’ (2009) and ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ (2017). He was nominated for an Academy Award for all three films.
Of late, he also starred in the opening season of the highly acclaimed anthology crime series ‘True Detective’, co-starring Matthew McConaughey.
While the talented comedian-actor Kevin Hart had previously acted in a somewhat similarly themed film ‘Central Intelligence’ (2016) co-starring superstar Dwayne Johnson. His forthcoming drama film ‘Fatherhood’ is slated to release later this year.
