It seems like the wait is finally over for the X-Men ‘97 Disney+ animated series. Serving as a revival of the original X-Men: The Animated Series (1992 to 1997), the upcoming Beau DeMayo creation consists of 10 episodes.
As for the release date of X-Men ‘97, the series is expected to arrive on the Disney+ streaming platform in mid to late March 2024. One of the most prominent scoopers, Alex Perez (The Cosmic Circus), revealed this news.
Marvel Studios announced the project back in November 2021. It will be the first X-Men project to be produced by Marvel Studios after the studio regained the television and film rights to the characters.
X-Men ‘97 will serve as a continuation of the original X-Men: The Animated Series, which had five seasons and a total of 76 episodes. According to some online reports, the upcoming Disney+ title will take place months after the original series finale, “Graduation Day”, with Mister Sinister returning as the project’s primary antagonist. In the absence of Charles Xavier, Magneto will try to take command of Xavier’s X-Men. In addition, the events of the original series have resulted in humans developing sympathy and positive feelings towards mutants.
Apart from X-Men ‘97, the popular superhero faction may appear in the live-action form in Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The third Deadpool installment will arrive in theatres globally on July 26, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
