X-Men ‘97 Season 2 Faces Delay—New Release Window Confirmed

If you shipped Magneto and Rogue hard in Season 1, then prepare to take this update with a pinch of salt. Marvel Studios has confirmed that the development of X-Men ‘97 Season 2 is currently underway, but it has also faced a release delay.

In an interview with Collider, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Animation, Streaming, and Television, discussed the show’s future. While fans are excited about Season 2, Winderbaum confirmed that the next season won’t arrive on Disney+ (JioHotstar for Indian viewers) until 2026.

The long wait may disappoint a majority of the series’ fanbase. However, it also seems that Marvel is not willing to take risks with Season 2, considering how brilliantly Season 1 turned out. Winderbaum and the Marvel Animation team are likely working to ensure that Season 2 lives up to the high bar set by its predecessor.

Moreover, X-Men ‘97 Season 2 is not the only Marvel show set to arrive on Disney+ in 2026. Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man animated series will also premiere next year. According to Winderbaum, these two shows will remain Marvel’s top priority for 2026 in the animation department.

X-Men ’97 picks up after Professor X’s departure. The team grapples with leadership changes, new threats, and evolving mutant-human relations. They face familiar foes like the Sentinels and witness internal conflicts that test their unity and resolve in a world increasingly hostile to mutants.

Indian viewers can stream all episodes of X-Men ‘97 on JioHotstar. Stay tuned for more updates.
