Beau DeMayo, the newly hired creator of the anticipated X-Men 97 series has been inexplicably fired from the crew even before its grand debut, which is set to take place on Disney+ on 20th March, 2024. As of writing this article, it is reported that all of his credentials have been revoked, and the entire team has been made aware that DeMayo is not an active part of the series anymore, going forward. This is rather untimely, especially considering that he had done a lot of work going so far as to complete scripts for Season 2 and potentially a Season 3 as well, for the series. Sadly, he will also not be a part of their premiere in Hollywood, slated to take place on March 13th.
DeMayo is well known for his efforts in the Marvel Universe with works like the reboot of Blade, and Moon Knight. However, according to industry buzz, there had been some roadblocks that the big guns at Marvel faced with regards to the development of X-Men 97 with DeMayo at its helm, and in addition to it they did not receive his vision of the new Blade reboot very kindly. It seems that his termination was a culmination of events, and not a single incident that led to this eventual outcome.
The X-Men 97 show will continue exactly where the 90s show left off, and it will see the comeback of a majority of the original cast members from the initial X-Men: The Animated Series, 30+ years after its grand finale. In this story, Professor X is presumed dead and Magneto is about to wreak havoc by taking control of everything. Wolverine, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm and others are tasked with fighting new foes to protect the world they love and know of.
