The next collaboration between director Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone, Bugonia, has received a release window. The film’s plot revolves around a duo of conspiracy obsessed young men who kidnap a powerful CEO of a large company, convinced that she is an alien hell-bent on destroying planet Earth.
Bugonia marks Lanthimos’ fourth collaboration with Stone. The duo have worked together in The Favourite (2018) and Poor Things (2023). Their recent movie, Kinds of Kindness, has received a positive reception from viewers. Despite its limited theatrical release, the film was able to collect $1.5 million in its opening weekend. Kinds of Kindness debuted at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The upcoming project will serve as a remake of the hit South Korean comedy, “Save the Green Planet!”. It was officially announced in February this year.
Will Tracy has written Bugonia. Lanthimos, Lars Knudsen, and Ari Aster produce the movie through their Square Peg banner. Stone also serves as one of the producers via her Fruit Tree banner. Jerry Ko and Miky Lee (CJ ENM), and Andrew Lowe and Ed Guiney (Element Pictures) also produce. The film will arrive in theatres worldwide on November 7, 2025. Focus will take care of the movie’s release in the United States, whereas Universal will handle its international distribution. Stay tuned for more updates.
