ZEE5 just delivered a massive googly on social media – the announcement of a new, star-studded show, titled ‘Taj: Divided By Blood’. The starry cast of the series, along with the style of announcement, points to a show that is bound to be massive in scale and lavishness. ZEE5’s ‘Taj: Divided By Blood’ reeks of ambitious intent from the homegrown streaming giant.
‘Taj: Divided By Blood’ will be a series that will recount the chequered history of the Mughals in India — but from the perspective of the bloodshed and infighting that plagued the dynasty, arguably the most powerful and extravagant dynasty of the Indian subcontinent.
ZEE5 has only announced that ‘Taj: Divided By Blood’ is coming soon. There’s no word from the streaming platform on the tentative release date of the series. ‘Taj: Divided By Blood’ boasts a stellar cast. Naseeruddin Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari, Asheem Gulati, Rahul Bose, Sandhya Mridul, Taha Shah, Shubham Mehra, Zarina Wahab, Shivani Tanskale, Subodh Bhave, Aayam Mehta, among others, are some of the names in the cast.
Interestingly, veteran star Dharmendra is set to mark his comeback to the screen with ‘Taj: Divided By Blood’. That is unless Dharma Movies film Rocky And Rani Ki Prem Kahani releases first. We think ‘Taj: Divided By Blood’ will hit ZEE5 first, so yes, the show will definitely be the return vehicle of Dharam Paaji.
A crucial point to be noted is that ZEE5’s ‘Taj: Divided By Blood’ is the second series in recent times, to focus on the Mughal dynasty. The first is Disney Plus Hotstar’s ‘The Empire’, created by Nikkhil Advani’s Emmay Entertainment. There’s no word from Disney Plus Hotstar on a second season of The Empire.
