ZEE5 Bangladesh has caught the big fish in its net. The homegrown streaming giant is all set to premiere distinguished Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki‘s first ever web series, ‘Ladies & Gentlemen’. ZEE5 Bangladesh and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki launched the trailer for the series today, along with revealing the premiere date for the show. Ladies & Gentlemen will premiere on ZEE5 Bangladesh on 9th July.
Those familiar with Bangladeshi cinema will know that Mostofa Sarwar Farooki is Bangladesh’s preeminent filmmaker. His films routinely find a place at prestigious Film Festivals around the world, and have won numerous awards at prominent Awards functions. Several of his films have been Bangladesh’s official entry for the Best International Film at the Oscar Awards. He has made films such as Third Person Singular Number, Ant Story, Television, and the Irrfan Khan starrer, No Bed Of Roses.
The just-released trailer of Ladies & Gentlemen reveals that the series is one woman’s fight against patriarchy, rape culture and gender discrimination at the workplace. The eight-episode series depicts the journey of the lead protagonist as she fights for her rights, and in the process, becomes the voice of every working woman in Bangladesh.
Ladies & Gentlemen is produced by by Nusrat Imrose Tisha, co-produced by Iresh Zaker and Sardar Saniat Hossain, directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and co-directed by Mahmudul Islam. Ladies & Gentlemen is a product of Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s Chabial Productions, in association with Good Company. The ensemble cast includes Maria Nur, Pavel Areen, Tanvir Hossain, Mamunur Rashid, Tasnia Farin, Hasan Masood, Partha Barua, Alexey Kosoruko, Mukit Zakaria and Iresh Zaker, among others.
