With an announcement on twitter couple of hours ago, Zee5 has decided to create a ‘Cinema2Home’ (C2H) experience, for all those who are missing the unique theater experience, in the comfort of their homes. Named ‘ZeePlex’, this pay-per-view movie service will be India’s first C2H service model to come out on both television and digital platforms.
With this unique experience, Zee5 is incentivizing more film makers and producers to launch their movies in their digital platform as it enables them to take up other financial models; other than an OTT platform buying their potential hit at a much lower price. Since this pay-per-view model will also provide information like the number of people watching the movie and the number of re-views of it as well, film providers can eventually go for a share-basis or a percentage-basis model for the sale of the film. This new model will also give film makers more unique information which only digital platforms can provide, like the most re-winded parts, the most skipped portions, the most watched song, immediate audience feedback, etc.
Zee5 has announced that ZeePlex will launch on Gandhi Jayanti, 2nd October.
