After the phenomenal streaming success of the mystery thriller web series ‘Duranga’, OTT platform Zee5 has officially announced that ‘Duranga Season-2’ is confirmed and will be going on floors in the near future.
An official adaptation of the popular South Korean show ‘Flower of Evil’, the nine-part romantic mystery thriller series ‘Duranga’ follows the story of Samit (played by Gulshan Devaiah) and her cop wife Ira (played by Drashti Dhami). While investigating a string of murders, the wife finds out that her seemingly innocent and moral husband might be hiding his dark past. ‘Duranga S1’ was directed by Pradeep Sarkar and Aijaz Khan.
The series also featured Abhijit Khandkekar, Barkha Sengupta, Rajesh Khattar, Divya Seth, Zakir Hussain in important roles besides an interesting cameo by Amit Sadh, who is expected to have a larger and more important role in the show’s upcoming season. So, his character arc in ‘Duranga S2’ should also be interesting.
Duranga’s opening season achieved the feat of purportedly becoming the most viewed Zee5 original series in the launch month in 2022 for Hindi original content. Duranga S1 boasted of an impressive 270 million minutes of viewing as per Zee5. The show premiered on 19th August on the Zee5 streaming platform.
Besides ‘Duranga’, the Hindi remake of the South Korean show ‘Flower of Evil’, a Philippine adaptation was also released earlier this year in June.
