ZEE5’s State Of Siege: Another Outing, Another Siege Shattered!

By Binged Bureau - Sep 24, 2020 @ 05:09 pm

ZEE5 sprung a surprise on viewers this afternoon when it made an announcement on social media that will send OTT viewers into a happy tizzy. ZEE5‘s hit show State Of Siege is returning, but as a feature film this time! You will of course wonder what remains to be seen in the gripping story of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The story ended with the killing of nine terrorists and capture of one, in Season 1. So then what purpose will the State Of Siege feature film serve?

That, dear readers, is the surprise. The story of the Mumbai terror attacks ended in State Of Siege Season 1. But ZEE5 has very smartly hit upon a novel way to take the franchise forward. By focusing on other, similar, terror attacks around the country, where radical elements had laid siege to a public place, along with killing and taking common people as hostages. And God knows, there’s no dearth of those in our country.

So, State Of Siege, the film, will fucus on the Akshardham terror attack that took place in September 2002 in the famous Akshardham Temple Complex in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Two trained and ruthless terrorists attacked Akshardham temple, armed with haversacks full of automatic weapons and grenades. They killed 30 people, including children, and injured more than 80. Finally, the National Security Guards (NSG) were called in, who shot the terrorists dead early the next day.

Titled State Of Siege: Akshardham, the movie will be directed by Ken Ghosh, and produced by Contiloe Pictures, who were also producers of State Of Siege 26/11. Not much is known about the cast of State Of Siege: Akshardham. The film will go on floors soon, and premiere on ZEE5 in 2021.

Stay tuned to Binged.com for further updates on State Of Siege: Akshardham.
