In a surprising move, Zomato, the food-based app in India announced that it is entering into the OTT space with its originals. Many guffawed at the idea, considering the competition. However, now that the first set of videos are out, we think it might not be a bad idea after all.
There are six originals in the first set of mini-series. Each one comprises of four to six episodes. And each ‘episode’ is approximately 9 minutes in length. The ‘celebrity’ series is the lengthiest of the lot with each one approximately clocking nearly 15 minutes. The lowest is two and a half minutes. The crisp narrative makes the whole set a breezy watch.
The themes and ideas are definitely inspired by the best food-based content available worldwide. But, what makes the ‘Zomato Originals’ work is unique local flavour each series contains and how simple it puts across the point. The whole thing appears to be over so quickly. In the process, it manages to provide information, simple cooking recipe’s, some music and fun, and a peep into the tastes of celebs.
Zomato Originals are well thought out and neatly executed. If you have time, do give them a chance. The least it can do is get you in a positive and happy mood. The videos are available exclusively on the app.
