‘Zwigato’, ‘Lost’ & More: Making Indian Cinema Proud Globally!

While Nandita Das’ heartwarming drama ‘Zwigato’ is doing wonders at the Busan International Film Featival post its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, it’s time for Yami Gautam starrer ‘Lost’ to make Indian cinema proud once again at the global level.

Coming from ‘Pink’ filmmaker Aniruddha Roy Chowdhary, ‘Lost’ made its world premiere at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF) on 23rd September and as per the makers it received standing ovation along with praises that were filled with immense love.

‘Lost’ is an emotional thriller that represents a higher quest, a search for lost values of empathy and integrity. The film stars Yami Gautam, Pankaj Kapur, Rahul Khanna, Neil Bhoopalam, Pia Bajpiee and Tushar Pandey in prominent roles.

Written by Shyamal Sengupta and Ritesh Shah, ‘Lost’ has music by Shantanu Moitra and lyrics from Swanand Kirkire. Zee Studios, Kishor Arora, Shareen Mantri Kedia, Sam Fernandes and Indrani Mukherjee have produced the film.

Adding to this list of Indian films making premieres at international film festival is Hansal Mehta’s upcoming action thriller film ‘Faraaz’ that has been selected at the prestigious BFI London Film Festival 2022.

‘Faraaz’ tells the tale of how in the face of violent adversity, humanity wins. Based on true events of the Holey Artsian Cafe attack in Bangladesh in July 2016, ‘Faraaz’ is the story of the time when five young militants ravaged the upscale cafe and held over 50 people as hostages for nearly 12 dreadful hours.

It’s great to see the ‘not-so-commercial’ yet good films like ‘Zwigato’, ‘Lost’ and ‘Faraaz’ getting the right platform and recognition. It’s quality cinema like this that needs to be appreciated and promoted.
