Immensely popular stand-up comedian and actor Kapil Sharma will soon be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in the upcoming film titled ‘Zwigato’ (interesting word play between Swiggy & Zomato), which is set to release in theatres on 17th March. Recently, the makers unveiled new posters featuring Kapil Sharma and his co-star Shahana Goswami and the duo looked totally unrecognizable. And now, the film’s brand-new theatrical trailer has been released.
‘Zwigato’ trailer showcases Kapil Sharma as an ordinary family man Manas, a food delivery agent of the titular app Zwigato. Shahana Goswami plays his wife in the film. The trailer sheds some light on the food delivery system in India and how food delivery persons must deal with the never-ending circle of incentives and ratings. Hats off to the film’s helmer Nandita Das for imagining an out-and-out entertainer like Kapil Sharma in the role of a middle class, next-door man, and his pairing with an unconventional actress like Shahana Goswami. The trailer is well-cut, has the right graph, and clicks with the viewer on an emotional level.
Written and directed by actor-filmmaker Nandita Das and set in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the movie narrates a bittersweet tale of a married couple (played by popular stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma and Shahana Goswami) and their persistent struggles to make a living in the post-pandemic era. In the slice-of-life film, Kapil Sharma will be seen in the role of a food delivery rider who has lost his factory manager job in the pandemic and how his homemaker wife tries to support his income by starting to work herself.
Previously, ‘Zwigato’ was showcased at various reputed film festivals including Toronto International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival and more recently at the International Film Festival of Kerala.
With ‘Zwigato’, small screen superstar Kapil Sharma is making his full-fledged feature film comeback after a gap of around six years. His last lead role was in ‘Firangi’. From Zwigato’s latest trailer, it looks like he has cracked the role of a food delivery boy.
