Prime Video has just signed a big deal with Lionsgate. Yes, the studio behind hit movies like The Hunger Games and John Wick. Starting in 2026, Prime Video will get exclusive early access to Lionsgate’s movies after they first appear on STARZ. This means Prime members will be among the first to stream these films at home.
The deal includes some highly anticipated movies, like the next Now You See Me film, The Hunger Games etc. Plus, Prime Video will get to pick from Lionsgate’s library of popular titles, including Twilight, Saw, and award-winning TV shows like Nurse Jackie and Weeds.
This deal is part of a bigger trend where streaming services are competing to offer the best content. With Lionsgate’s lineup, Prime Video is making sure its subscribers always have something fun to watch.
As for India, the situation will be interesting to look out for. Lionsgate Play already exists as an add-on subscription channel. If Indians want to watch stuff from Lionsgate Play then they may have to get the add-on subscription only because it is highly likely that Lionsgate Play would simply give away all its few originals to Prime Video. Whatever the case may be, we promise to keep you posted.
