Bookmyshow, which is the largest platform for booking tickets for movies, concerts, stand up comedies, and many more, is now facing a big controversy about the Coldplay concert which is scheduled to take place at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, in January 2025 .
The allegations are that they are re-selling the tickets by doubling the price and they are taking illegal methods.
All these actions are very normal when it comes to a big event like the “Coldplay” concert, but these cheap tricks are expected from the normal people who buy the tickets at original price and then resell them.
But, this is not expected from a big platform like “BookMyShow”!
The complaints were made by Amit Vyas , who accused the company of facilitating ticket scalping for the Coldplay concert.
When the ticket sale began on September 22, 13 million people attempted to purchase tickets online.
The original ticket prices ranged from ₹2,500 and above, but many fans reported that third-party vendors and influencers resold the tickets for as much as ₹3 lakh. Vyas claimed that in his accusation.
He also claimed that the website blocked legitimate users from buying tickets and inserted Bot for selling tickets in Black market.
Anil Makhija, COO of BookMyShow, made his appearance at the EOW office.
The EOW took the needed action after receiving such complaints and being the official website for selling tickets “BookMyShow” allegedly faced criticism.
This action made thousands of Coldplay fans mislead and they also felt betrayed. Because the action taken by EOW led to the possibilities of cancelation of the concert.
Currently the controversy is still going on, and the scrutiny on “BookMyShow” is still ongoing.
The authorities are planning to reschedule the concert and they are trying to stop illegal ticket buying and are using legitimate websites to sell tickets.
