With a significant 26% share of Netflix’s new scripted title by the Western European market, it seems like APAC is becoming the key aspect of the streaming giant “Netflix”.
With a significant portion of its new scripted content originating from this rapidly growing market, Netflix has increasingly turned to the Asia-Pacific region.
Marking a notable rise from 2023, in the first eight months of the year 33% of this platform’s scripted TV shows came from the APAC region.
In the year 2022 when APAC took over North America, it’s the leap of faith of 9% and a 4% increase from the previous year.
Showing Netflix’s global success, the APAC market is to contribute 7.7 million net subscribers, which is a huge addition to Netflix in 2024.
These scripted series on Netflix can be a huge contribution to the region’s massive viewership.
In the genres such as Sci Fi and Fantasy countries like Thailand and Taiwan, has seen a significant growth in the scripted commission area.
Furthermore, Netflix has also leaned on the contributions of South Korea, for that reason K-Dramas have garnered a massive portion of the viewership as well.
But, the saturation of the market seems to be a hard pill to swallow for them. It is a clear indication that Netflix is focusing on the APAC region to make the platform more diverse and to get more production value.
Now, Thailand and Taiwan saw an increasing growth because mainly they were associated with the Sci fi fantasy genre, which attracted the youngsters from that region.
Although, right now we can see APAC is taking quite a grip on Netflix, Netflix is open to expand its subscriber base and be the leading content provider.
