What happens when a poster or teaser arrives?
Most posters carry the logo of their OTT platform and that’s how we already know which platform they shall drop to after their theatrical run. In most cases, it harms the film.
Why?
People think that this particular film is anyway coming to OTT so why go to the big screens? If you happen to be a subscriber of that platform then you see no reason for going to the theatre. Pretty reasonable. Some films don’t have that theatrical pull.
But Chhava is doing something intelligent. Maddock is on high energy after a fantastic 2024 and they are all the more excited for Chhava. The movie has not announced its OTT platform. You can’t find any logo on their poster or even the trailer that was launched yesterday.
So, there is no news about the platform. When people are not sure about it, they will perhaps prefer going to the big screens instead of waiting for it on OTT.
Anyway, the film is more suitable for theatre than a regular TV, Laptop or phone screen.
This is a smart strategy and more films should adapt to it. Let’s wait to see if it actually happens.
