OTT regulation is one of the hottest topics in the Indian entertainment space. From the last two years, there have been many instances when this issue was raised and then silently killed. But several controversial films and series in 2024 ensured that we do get the OTT regulation bill.
The industry representatives have been screaming at the top of their lungs that self-regulation is the best way to tackle this problem. To a great extent, it works as well. However, the government is adamant about bringing policies that would be almost the same as censoring films for the big screen.
So what’s happening on December 20th?
The industry representatives and the government officials are going to have a meeting on that day.
In that particular meeting, the industry representatives will determine the outcome and blueprint of the upcoming regulation with the government officials.
So, it is gonna be a big meeting with some highly sensitive outcomes. Let’s see what happens.
We are sure that some sort of censorship will be imposed. But we also think that it will not be as hard as the regular films that go on the big screens.
