Disney Finally Allows Paid Sharing Of Accounts

Disney+ is ready to launch its new policy regarding paid sharing. The platform will now allow the user to add another member outside their household. Along with the accessibility to transfer the profile to a new account altogether.

The feature will be launched this week for the users in the US and in many other regions around the world. This “paid sharing program” will have options for the users, such as adding the “extra member for a fee of $6.99 per month. This will be the charge for the basic subscription; the premium version will carry a fee of $9.99.

The number of extra members has been restricted to one person per account. This feature will be accompanied by another new option. The user will be able to transfer any eligible profile to a new account. This will allow the user to carry forward the watch history on to the new account.

It is to be seen whether the price hike leads to any changes to this new implementation. The price hike and this new policy had already been teased in the earnings calls in early 2024. Its competitor, Netflix, had already implemented this paid sharing system last year and saw enormous success. It is to be seen how this policy works out for Disney+.
