With the addition of four new channels—Hallowstream, Hits & Heroes, Throwbacks, and Real Life—Disney+ is extending its live-streaming offerings. Disney+ already offers “non-stop playlists,” but this expansion aims to fill in the service’s niches and reach a larger audience among its subscription base.
The four new channels announced have several new features with Hallowstream streaming live Halloween content such as Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, and Mr. Boogedy. It is now clear that Hits & Heroes is a spin-off of Epic Stories, a collection of thrilling tales from major properties and brands like Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars.
Conversely, Throwbacks will reference some of the studio’s most well-known live-action and animated films, including Inspector Gadget starring Matthew Broderick, Snow White, and Cinderella. Real Life, which focuses on documentaries, biopics, and stories based on real life, will round out this group of channels.
Disney+ still allows you to search for any movie, but it’s best when it gets curated so you can find movies you might not have seen or hadn’t even thought to watch. This feature is a huge bonus for the platform and other streaming services should also include these features in their plans.
Though this feature is yet to be added for the viewers in India, this would be highly beneficial given the amount of viewership Disney+ has in India. In the rapid growth of OTT platforms, features like these are always efficient and might help in maintaining an optimum place in the race to be on the top.
