It is not often that a piece of content becomes so popular, at least amongst audiences, that it is remade or continued in multiple languages. Such is the case with ‘Citadel’.
An American spy action television series created for Amazon Prime Video, ‘Citadel’ follows a global spy agency that has been destroyed by a powerful syndicate Manticore. In the aftermath, these agents come together to stop the syndicate, while being (un)blissfully unaware of their pasts.
The 2023 show, starring Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci, and more in leading roles, has an Italian counterpart: ‘Citadel: Diana’. Additionally, the Indian counterpart of the show, which will serve as the prequel to the original series, is upcoming: ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’.
The show stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu as the leading duo, alongside Kay Kay Menon, Simran Bagga, and Emma Canning. Considering the wide viewer base that the ‘Citadel’ universe has already garnered, not particularly in one geography, but numerous parts of the world, ‘Honey Bunny’ is expected to debut to a large international audience.
While the other two series have been released in English, ‘Honey Bunny’ has been helmed in Hindi. This authenticity factor might serve as an added advantage for the viewership that the title garners internationally!
