Is Industry Not Able To Meet India’s Entertainment Demand

Things are so complicated in the world of business. Netflix India is working in the most populous country in the world. Good for them, Indians also love entertainment. But, there is a peculiar problem.

Monika Shergill opened up on Netflix’s success in India. According to her there is a growing issue in the entertainment industry: demand is outpacing supply.

While Netflix has found its footing in India, becoming the second-largest territory for paid net subscriptions and the third-largest in revenue growth, Shergill’s warning about the creative sector’s inability to meet this demand is concerning.

Yes, entertainers are not able to meet the demand.

Netflix’s success in India came after its focus on local storytelling according to Shergill. It is very true but why are shows like Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives still in existence?

However, the issue is that the creative sector is facing heavy workloads.

The question then becomes: how can streaming platforms sustain growth if the local talent pool is overwhelmed?

Shergill points to the need for reinvestment in the creative economy. While Netflix and other platforms are already making use of the massive Indian audience, there is still a massive need to focus on nurturing local talent.

Without this, India’s entertainment boom will always be a crippled dream.

Let’s hope that the entertainment industry meets the demand by creating great content that also resonates internationally.

But what do you think? Is entertainment industry really failing to meet our demands?
