JioCinema Fumbles Again With IPL Auction Streaming?

Live Streaming and JioCinema – is there a better love-hate relationship? JioCinema has undeniably revolutionized Indian entertainment. With plans cheaper than peanuts, it opened the doors to a vast library for the Indian audience.

But there’s a catch. JioCinema has one glaring flaw—sports streaming. From IPL matches to the Football World Cup, JioCinema has consistently struggled in this area.

Though the merger with Hotstar promised a solution, the issues persisted, as seen during the IPL 2025 auction.

What was on offer? The usual fare from JioCinema. While players were being auctioned for hefty sums, JioCinema’s servers were crashing under the pressure. Lagging streams, endless buffering, and difficulty accessing the stream plagued the experience for many viewers.

What makes it worse is that the auction didn’t even draw as much traffic as IPL matches or major sporting events. The fact that the servers couldn’t handle this comparatively lower load left fans deeply disappointed.

The frustration didn’t end there. Those who managed to join the stream were met with subpar presentation, adding insult to injury.

The streaming issues weren’t limited to smartphones either. Smart TV users faced similar, if not worse, problems. This isn’t a new issue for JioCinema’s Smart TV app, but what’s disheartening is the lack of any concrete solutions on the horizon.

Fans are left asking: When will JioCinema finally fix these persistent issues?
