JioHotstar Not Maximising On Their International Content?

JioHotstar sits on a goldmine of international content, HBO dramas, Peacock originals, and Disney global hits. Yet somehow, it feels like the platform doesn’t know what to do with it.

From Barry and The Leftovers to Succession and The Penguin, there’s no shortage of high-quality shows. The problem? Discovery. These series are scattered across the platform with poor tagging, misplaced categories, and zero promotion.

Unlike Netflix, which curates recommendations based on viewer taste, or Prime Video, which at least highlights trending global titles, JioHotstar’s interface feels cold and directionless. A casual browser would never know what gems lie buried.

The bigger issue is their home pannel. Why not involve film and TV buffs who understand the appeal of these shows? Instead, the categorisation feels mechanical, like someone unfamiliar with global entertainment is in charge. A hotchpotch of International Content, that’s the best way to put it.

In a time when Indian audiences are eager to explore international stories, this lack of care is baffling. JioHotstar has the rights, the reach, and the audience. What it needs is vision. Without that, this vast catalogue risks fading into the background, watched only by those who already know what to search for.
