JioHotstar Search Glitch Makes US Open Disappear

The merger of Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema was hailed as a game-changer for India’s streaming landscape. The new entity, JioHotstar, promised a vast library of content ranging from blockbuster movies to a comprehensive portfolio of live sports. With the acquisition of rights to prestigious events like the US Open, it seemed poised to become the ultimate hub for the nation’s sports fans.

The 2025 US Open is underway, and users are frustrated with their overall viewing experience on JioHotstar. One of the biggest issues they face is the platform’s search function. Even after typing “US Open,” the streamer doesn’t provide a direct link to the live tournament.

On top of this, viewers are unable to easily watch matches featuring their favourite tennis stars. JioHotstar’s search bar is far from intuitive. Instead, users are forced to navigate to the platform’s Sports section (on the left for TV and at the bottom for smartphones) and scroll endlessly through a series of live games, highlights, and replays, hoping to stumble upon the match they want.

This isn’t just an inconvenience; it’s a fundamental breakdown of the user experience. The thrill of a live sporting event lies in its immediacy. Fans want to find their desired game, hit play, and be immersed in the action. But the current design of JioHotstar’s sports section turns this simple act into a frustrating scavenger hunt.

The irony is that JioHotstar has all the content, money, and technological prowess needed to fix this. It has secured rights to the biggest names in tennis, football, and cricket. Yet the current navigation system undermines the value of these assets. In other words, a great content library is useless if users can’t easily access it.

It’s time for JioHotstar to ace its search function and deliver the world-class experience its content portfolio deserves. Stay tuned for more updates.
