Netflix Glitches Only to Extort Money?

A Netflix India user recently tried to pause their membership but was shocked to find that the platform deducted money anyway, just 12 minutes after the pause was initiated.

She even posted screenshots showing the payment link and the request to pause. Frustrated, she expressed her disappointment.
This isn’t just a one-off customer service issue. If a user deliberately pauses their subscription and the system overrides that within minutes, it becomes a serious trust issue. Netflix has built a reputation for being user-friendly and seamless, but this experience doesn’t fit that image.

While the platform has always offered smooth content delivery, it’s during cancellation or membership changes that the cracks start to show. And in a subscription-based economy, where users are constantly juggling multiple platforms, ease of exit is just as important as ease of entry.

Glitches like these make people hesitant to engage with auto-renewals or trust pause options in the future. Netflix must urgently look into this issue and fix the loophole. It’s not just about one refund but about respecting user control.
After all, if people don’t feel they’re in charge of their own subscriptions, they won’t stick around for long.
