OTT Platforms To Soon Take Over The Entire TV Space?

If there is one thing that the rampant advent of technology has brought about, it is the ever-increasing dependency of consumers on more flexible options. Not only has the world been brought to our fingertips, it is also a varied world that we’re being offered.

Such is the case with over-the-top (OTT) platforms. Their increasing popularity can be attributed to the variety of digital content that they have to offer, in addition to the flexibility they are becoming renowned for. Which is why, they are steadily replacing deliver-to-home (DTH) services.

DTH service providers are not only facing the issue of being overshadowed by OTT platforms, they are also reporting major losses. Moreover, the income of major DTH operators has reportedly fallen by nearly 50% in the span of a year. What this also translates to, is a major divide between the OTT and DTH. Unfortunately, with the rapid development of more and more OTT platforms, this gap is only predicted to widen.

While TV ownership statistics are on the rise with changing population demographics, this progress is seemingly limited to only the OTT space, and not traditional TV. Until and unless, DTH service providers come up with efficient means to integrate technology into their workings, OTT platforms will soon not only reign, but take over the entirety of the TV space!
