Prime Video has announced the release date of its upcoming Tamil comedy drama series Local Times. The show will start streaming on March 13, 2026. On the same day, the platform will also release Season 3 of the popular series Aspirants.
Directed by Naveen George Thomas, Local Times stars Rishikanth, Abdool Lee, Maurish Dass and others in important roles. The makers recently shared the trailer, which gives a look into the story of four friends named Veera, Azhagu, Valli, and Muthu.
The story follows their efforts to bring back the glory of Namma Seidhi, a regional newspaper that once had a strong reputation. The paper was started by Veera’s grandfather, and the friends now try to keep its legacy alive. As they work to rebuild the newspaper, they face many funny situations, personal clashes, and unexpected challenges. The trailer also hints at a powerful rival who wants to shut them down. Through all the problems, their friendship remains strong.
With both Local Times and Aspirants Season 3 arriving on the same day, Prime Video viewers will have two very different stories to choose from on March 13. One offers a light hearted newsroom comedy, while the other continues the intense journey of UPSC aspirants. Naturally the success probability of Aspirants Season 3 is very high because of the success of the previous two seasons but if Local Times manages to succeed in Tamil Nadu then it will be nice.
