Once upon a time, Prime Video was the most reliable app on our phones. Open, tap, play, and your favorite movie or show would start in seconds. But lately, something has changed. And not for the better.
Users across the board are now facing a strange delay. You open the app, choose a title, hit play, and then… nothing. A blank screen. Maybe a loading wheel. Or, worse, the title never starts at all.
And no, this isn’t an issue with poor internet. Even on stable high-speed Wi-Fi, the delay persists. Other apps like Netflix, Hotstar, or YouTube load instantly, while Prime Video takes its own sweet time. You’re left wondering if the problem is your phone, or Prime Video’s backend.
This issue raises larger questions about platform performance. Amazon has invested billions into content, from blockbuster originals to marquee series, but is the tech keeping up? What’s the point of owning streaming rights to the biggest global hits if the basic experience of “press play” fails?
In a competitive OTT space, user experience matters more than ever. A one-minute delay feels like a dealbreaker when a competitor starts streaming in seconds.
Maybe this is a bug. Maybe it’s a temporary lapse. But if Prime Video doesn’t fix it soon, loyalty may shift, not because people don’t love the content, but because watching it becomes a test of patience.
And in the streaming wars, patience is rarely a virtue.
