Wednesday Season 2 has come close to breaking its own record but has just missed it, at least for now. The hit Netflix series returned on August 4 with the first four episodes of its new season and quickly racked up 50 million views in its first five days. That figure is only a hair behind the 50.1 million views Season 1 achieved in the same time frame back in November 2022.
On paper, this might look like a tie, but the real story suggests Season 2 is actually performing far far better. The first season was released all at once, with all eight episodes available from day one. Season 2, however, is split into two parts, meaning viewers only had half the content to watch during its launch week. Yet, it still managed to draw nearly the same audience as the full first season.
This slow-release strategy could turn out to be the show’s secret weapon. With Part 2 arriving on September 3, viewership is expected to surge again, giving Season 2 a second chance to leap past Season 1 and perhaps set a new Netflix record.
For now, Wednesday Season 2 has already claimed a major victory. It reached No. 1 in 91 countries during its debut week which is more than any other English-language Netflix title in history. And thanks to the hype, even Season 1 is back in the Top 10, proving that Wednesday Addams still has an unshakable grip on audiences worldwide.
