Special Ops 2 Flops? Mandala Murders Wins Over Fans

Okay, we ran a poll on Twitter the other day. What would the audience wanna watch? Is it Mandala Murders on Netflix or Special Ops 2 on JioHotstar.

But, the response we got, it was somewhat shocking.

People prefered Mandala Murders over Special Ops 2.

But, why?

This isn’t just about hype or a trending title. It’s about delivery.

Mandala Murders, led by Vaani Kapoor, dives deep into a grim, ritualistic murder mystery that blends folklore with crime, much like the first season of Asur. The treatment feels fresh, atmospheric, and unsettling in the right ways. The pacing is deliberate, the tension is real, and Vaani’s ex-cop character adds both vulnerability and grit.

Special Ops 2, on the other hand, while technically sound and packed with action, feels… dated. The same cat-and-mouse game, the same patriotic undertones, the same execution that once thrilled but now barely surprises.

What makes Mandala Murders click is the shift in storytelling. It’s not about grand intelligence operations. It’s about personal obsessions, faith, fate, and a methodical uncovering of truth.

And perhaps audiences are just done with formula. They want fear, mystery, emotion, not another bureaucrat with a gun.

For once, the underdog wins. And maybe, it deserves to.

Though we won’t say it was the best attempts, it surely is an experiment that somewhat pays off.
