Why Should Indians Trust Indian Award Shows?

Indian Award Shows normally don’t make any sense. Take any random Award Show for instance, the trust of people in them is very very less. The reason?

Too much emphasis on ads, and dances and too much emphasis on popular films. What adds to that is the revelation from several Bollywood actors like Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan who simply label awards as saleable goods.

Well, we don’t know how true that is. But, there is a severe distrust among people when it comes to Award Shows and we can’t deny that.

Take the case of Filmfare OTT Awards 2024. The eligibility period for getting nominated was films and series released from August 1st, 2023 to July 31st, 2024.

Now, we do realise that Netflix India has done a great job in their programming but 28 Awards solely to Netflix India?

Other platforms did not add up to win even 5 Awards.

Well, this does cause people to distrust the Award. We realise that Amar Singh Chamkila and Heeramandi are brilliant originals and deserve recognition.

But, what is with The Railway Men which was at best an average series?

Among films, Netflix India had to dominate because no other platform is as serious about films as they are. But, snubbing most series awards is a bit too much.

What do you think?
