Balu (GV Prakash) is a studious scholar who gets his kicks from being the college topper. He is always immersed in his books, with no time or inclination for anything else other than coming first. His cousin Mahalaxmi (Shalini Pandey) comes to live with him and study in the same college as him as his grandfather pays for her studies. They’re about to fall in love but break up when Mahalaxmi beats him to become the college topper. His ego is hurt, they have a tremendous fight and go their separate ways. They meet months later, both are successful and more mature now, and a few issues and arranged engagements (to other people) later, they realize that they love each other.
