Devi is a Bengali drama film that offers a fresh take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic, Devdas. Mainly, the film swaps the gender of the protagonists of the films. Devdas focused on the story of the male lead Devdas, while Devi has a female as the central character, who is faced with a tragic fate. Devi (Paoli Dam) is a rebel right from childhood, with a strict mother (Sudipa Basu) and loving father (Ardhendhu Banerjee). The grownup Devi becomes a photographer who travels the world and is a drug and drinks addict. She loves her childhood crush Prateek (Shubh Mukherjee), but, tired of her lack of commitment, he marries another girl, Shaun (Rachel White). Shattered, Devi takes to a life heavily into drugs, with Charlie (Shataf Figar) and his friends. She ultimately meets a tragic end.
