The movie does this through the means of the birthday celebrations of little Chintu that threaten to get derailed by a looming war post the American invasion of Iraq in the aftermath of the capture of Saddam Hussein. Chintu (Vedant Raj Chibber) is a cute little six year old, who lives in a small Baghdad neighbourhood with his parents, father Madan (Vinay Pathak) and mother Sudha (Tilottama Shome), his elder sister Lakshmi (Bisha Chaturvedi) and his nani (Seema Pahwa). The family is like a normal Bihari family – living mundane lives, punctuated by the occasional bickering between Madan and his mother in law. They live out of the the country but long to get back to India. Chintu has a wish of celebrating his sixth birthday, but right on the day, American forces run riot in Baghdad and the threat of war looms large. The rest of the story focuses on how, despite the perilous conditions, Madan goes about organising Chintu’s birthday exactly as the little boy had wished it to be.
