The Strange House or the Scary House or Das schaurige Haus is a 2020 released young adult/ family horror film which was based on the novel of the same name, from the novel series “The Allgäu Grusel” trilogy which was written by the German writer, Martina Wildner. The 99-minute long film premiered at the Wildenstein waterfall, in the producer, Gerald Podgornig’s hometown of Gallizien
The film follows a family of three – 16-year old Hendrik, his younger brother Eddi and their mother, Sabine. This family of three has shifted from a big city to a relatively remote town in the south of Austria. Hendrik is not happy with the situation he is in, as he had to leave behind the city life and his friends to “live in a dump”. The kids in his highschool don’t like him and he attracts the friendship of one loveable nerd – Fritz. To make matters worse, the locals shun the new family, as they believe that the house the family has moved into – is haunted. According to legend, a mother poisoned her two sons in that home, many decades ago. Although the family doesn’t believe it, when a sleepwalking Eddie starts carving strange symbols into the walls, Hendrik and his new friends decide to investigate the secrets of the strange house.
