Just the night before KC Chacko, a Congress-like politician looks ready to take over as chief minister for the first time in his five-decade long career, things go awry. His daughter, Ansi, elopes with a Left youth wing worker, Vineeth. There is a rapprochement, after a couple of years, when she becomes pregnant.
The Left party uses this as an opportunity to set up the timid Vineeth as Chacko’s opposing candidate in the next election. Now, the veteran and his young son-in-law are in a face-off for not just power, but for Ansi’s love.
