The Lovebirds is a romantic comedy film, centred on a couple on the brink of a breakup. Jibran (Kumail Nanjiani) and Leilani (Issa Rae) are unsure whether to call it quits in their relationship, when they unintentionally get embroiled in a crime – a man is murdered before their eyes, the killer escapes and they become prime suspects in the murder of the man. They reckon that the only way to clear their names of the murder is to solve it. As they hunt for the real murderer and the truth behind the crime, they get caught deeper in the case and its layers. They face one extreme situation after the other, and ultimately play right into the hands of the murderer. Held hostage by the murderer and his gang, they realise that the people they’re dealing with are very very dangerous. Will they survive the night? And will their relationship survive the current situation? The Lovebirds is a hilarious movie with some great clean comedy and sparkling situations.
